Since the sentiment is so strong against freeloaders - aren't all the people not donating to AILF freeloaders too ? Let's donate to AILF too while we are at it...

Well, this is NOT a cooked up story. This happened to me yesterday at Harlingen (HRL) Texas airport.
On January 16, 2008, I went to Mexico for H1-B visa stamping at Matamoras US consulate. I got my H1-B visa stamped and returned to Brownville, Texas.
On January 17, 2008, I was at Harlingen (HRL), Texas airport for my final destination.
One of the TSA security personnels is in process of verifying my ticket before proceeding to security check. As every one knows, we must present one of the government issued PHOTO-ID to them to clear the security check. I have shown my driver license and he has cleared the security check (name check).
I was about to proceed further for security screening; mean while, a Police Officer came to me and asked me following questions.
Sir, are you a US citizen?
I said, No
Then, he asked me, can I see your immigration documents.
I have shown my passport to the police officer.
He looked at H1-B visa and I-94 and asked me; who do you work for?
I said my employers name.
Later, he gave me my passport back.
Now,
I have asked the Police Officer few questions
1. Sir, Im in domestic traveling, is it mandatory to carry my immigration documents at all times?
Police Officer said, as per the US LAW, all non-immigrants must carry immigration documents and passport at all times.
2. What would you have done to me, if I had failed to present my passport?
Police office said, I could have DEPORTED you.
3. Sir, it is not possible for any one to carry passport at all times. Could the LAW allow me to carry photo copies of my passport and immigrations documents?
Police office said, No. Technically, you must carry original documents at all times.
I would advice you to carry Passport at all times.
I did not know this until Police Officer told me about this LAW.
P.S: BTW, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) level is in ORGANE.

Read my friend read! "Assuming a Harvard M.B.A graduate on a average make $120k out-of-school if would take 15 years for him to break-even even with all the increments and bonuses.". Do everyone who graduate from MIT Sloan make $200k after 3 years of graduation? Think about it. What do you think average salary of a ISB graduates is when you were hearing students getting offers of Rs. 1 crore? It was only 15Lacs.
I did read my friend where you were assuming Bonuses and increments does not make significant part of the salaries! But i think you are comparing apple with the oranges when you compare MIT sloan with ISB.However i agree with you 100% and the other fellow that the reson to do MBA is for personal career goals rather than calculating ROI.

it would be useful to all if people who have traveled could let us know their experience transiting through different airports, also we should compile a detailed list of the airports that have some transit visa requirements.

Dear Mrs. Hillary Clinton
Heartfelt thanks for making such an effort to answer consumer grievances. My Admiration for this administration and their efforts to improve communication is growing exponentially every day. God Bless you and God Bless America.
We are wringing these questions in effort to understand the VISA allocation processes followed by DOS. Also how it affects effectively petitioners live to plan their future, travel, Buying house etc...
1.0) Is IVACS primary application for tracking VISA requests from USCIS, Consular posts?
Rationale: Any Software/Application used by DOS should be single source for data entry of all the new application.
1.1) Does IVACS system (DOSs Inventory system) connects electronically to USCIS system, Consular posts or NVC or any other agencies for VISA demand requests?
Rationale: Any Software/Application used by DOS need talk to Client System (USCIS, Consular posts, NVC or other agencies) every month system for effectively moving VISA bulletin every month.
1.2) In Absence of Interface Does IVACS system receive VISA demand sent manually through flat file or spreadsheet?
Rationale: In absence of electronic interface DOS need to manually receive data for effectively predicting VISA bulletin every month.
2.0) How many Employment-based I485 VISA demands are pending at USCIS, NVC, Consular posts?
Rationale: We are trying to get Employment based pending applications.
3.0) IS this last Pending EmploymentDemandUsedForCutOffDates.pdf on 4/8/2010 - http://www.travel.state.gov/pdf/EmploymentDemandUsedForCutOffDates.pdf includes all the Employment based I485 VISA demand?
Rationale: We are trying to confirm data received are all inclusive.
4.0) Can DOS Enhance/publish table for total number of VISA available as on report preparation date, rather than total Fiscal availability. As per table showed below,
Rationale: This will help applicants to estimate date of approval and plan for buying house, make major move etc.
Preference China Demand India Demand Maxico Philippines ROW Worldwide limit

5.0) Can DOS generate monthly VISA returns report from USCIS, NVC, Consular posts or any other agencies that demands Employment VISA?
Rationale: This will help us understand how much visa were available for reallocation.
6.0) INA section Sec 201 (2) mentions usages of visa per Calendar Quarter with maximum limit of 27% per quarter. As EB2 & EB3 categories are retro gassed Are Minimum 140k/4 Visa's consumed every quarter? If no which section of INA being applied to not to do so?
Rationale: To understand DOSs interpretation and application of the law.
7.0) Where we can find DOS published monthly EB/FB permanent residency VISA demand report with country of chargeability, Employment based category (for e.g. EB1, EB2, EB3, ), similar to report published by DOL.
Rationale: This will help applicants to estimate date of approval and plan for buying house, make major move etc.
8.0) What is rational of EB3-India Visa allocation only approximately 100 a month? We feel that before EB3-I become unavailable it should get 140*7%*28.6% = 2802/12 VISAs every month. EB3-I VISA reductions from Inventory reports before their Priority Date is as follows,
a) Between Inventory Published 03/12/10 & 01/30/10 = 100
b) Between Inventory Published between 01/30/10 & 04/08/10 = 100
Rationale: This will help EB3 applicants to estimate date of approval to plan their future for house Purchase or major move etc.
9.0) How do you propose to reconcile the pending data reported by DOS and USCIS.
We are Comparing data from two sources USCIS published pending inventory and DOS published monthly determination, And we have Found data Differences for following categories,
USCIS Pending for EB3-China as on March 08, 2010 === 5,575
DOS Pending for EB3-China as on March 01, 2010 === 8,900
Rationale: Closing gap in case of data error.

A1: If you have an approved I-140 for the earlier PD, the answer is yes.
A2: You do not have to refile 485. Apply for PERM and get a new 140 for this PERM substituting your earlier PD. Now you will have an EB2 I-140 with the 2004 PD. There is an option to replace the 140 for an already filed 485. Just do that and you are all set.
Thanks for your response. ;)
So will AOD processing for EB-2 be a lot faster than EB-3 as long as I capture the PD of 12/04?

I e-filed my EAD and AP;but when I sent the supporting documentation to the PO Box in Mesquite,Texas;it was not delivered on Friday,a notice was left.I am very anxious if it comes back.Is there a Phone Number I can call to ask them Reason for Non-delivery;what should I do???Is there an address different from the PO Box where I can FEDEX
sands_14,
This is quite common. I had the same thing happened. Even I have E-filed my EAD/AP last week. The way how it works is, since it is a post box USPS leaves the notice in there for all the deliveries. Once in a day, someone from USCIS picks those notices from the post box, goes to USPS and collects all the packages. Check your status back on Monday evening, it will say delivered.

Everest Consulting Group Inc is really good. I know them personally for more than 10 years now & they do what they say and do NOT torture their employees like many other consulting firms. I just got my GC thru them :)
I hope this helps somebody & please let me know if I can be any further help!
Thanks.
Ramesh.

Are you not authorized to work until new EAD or copy of EAD will suffice... I know everything else is easy to replace.... but USCIS documents takes months...
Should a copy of EAD + DL be sufficient to keep in wallet?? I've lost my wallet once.. so its a scary thought...

Given the severe backlog of EB2 and EB3, some people will find ways to outsmart the system so that they can get the greencards sooner. If those loopholes are not plugged now, it will make a mess just as Labor Sub once did.
Yes, i'm not supportive of those that seek to exploit loopholes, I understand their frustration, i feel the same frustration. If we know for certain that someone is deliberately, possibly illegally abusing the system we should report it to either DOL or USCIS. Look what the exploiters have done to the PERM system.......

The agency approved some applications when we were certain the process will be completed very shortly, Mr. Aytes said.

This statement from Mr. Aytes can be used to prove the conspiracy against July filers. If they knew that the security check process would have been completed shortly, then why in the world would they have to approve them before July....They had all the time till end of the fiscal year (Sept 30th) to approve such cases once the security checks were complete and still not allow wastage of immigrant visas for the current fiscal year. They only approved it for one of the following two reasons:
-- They didnt want all of us to file under the old fee system. That would cause USCIS a loss of $225-300 million (based on guestimates from www.immigration-law.com)
-- They were not ready to accept the work load of 300-400k I-485 applications which could have led to huge backlogs for years to come because the current political situation will in no way increase the number of immigrant visas for legal immigrants. All they care for is illegal immigrants.....

a. their I-140 is approved
b. fingerprinting is done.
c. passed the fbi name check.
d. their case made it to the hands of adjudicator who is taking a final look at it.
it is difficult to finish all these in less than two months.
but you may never know, there might be some lucky ones.
just hope that we all are that lucky :)
some people who applied in June may get approved if their PDs are current. July/ Aug filers unlikely
