Hi,
This thread (forum as well)seems to be really enthusiatic abt the immigration reforms.
Keep it up! I am a new member to this forum who had been passively following the S1932 disaster on immigration.com forums.
Hopefully things may look better with the new bill sponsored by Arlen Specter.
The bill looks good but how do we know that it is this bill which will be discussed and not the other bills sponsored by senator hagel,mccain etc..
Question is even though this bill seems to be a consolidated effort of all the previous bills how can we be sure if this is the bill which will be discussed as part of immigration reforms in feb?
Also this does not have any clause for applying for I-485 before cut off date?
So the people who benefit through this bill are probably the Masters/Phd who can automatically adjust their status and the people who have not even applied for a GC ( since no labor cert required).
But for people who are stuck at their 1-140 waiting to apply for I-485 the only thing this bill helps is increasing the EB quota.
I am a EB-2 applicant (masters) and would strongly support this bill but i don't see how it helps EB-3 applicants as much unless we have the clause for applying for I-485 before cut off date.
Even though there is a draft available about this bill, what gets included and what does not, is all up for debate yet. So no one really knows how this bill will look like, come Feb. That is why we are in the effort to have as many proosals that benefit us , be included in the bill.

tracker site data is fake....... tracker site has employees sitting in India...... those employees create fake ids and fake profiles....... then they write post using those fake ids to create an impression that there are lot of people posting on the tracker site...... if you look at title of most threads...... they are framed in the manner that will be inviting most others to write on the thread.......... every few days these employees sitting in India..... using a fake profile ........ start a new thread with a title something like .... 'i got it i got it ' or ' i am green' or something similar..... and using other fake ids the same bunch of employees ask fake questions from op..... who is also a fake handle...... so the data there is totally fake..... that data represents the need of the tracker site to make people to come to their site...... that data does not represent the sample data...... not even close.....

I think the fact that you had same A# helped you despite multiple filings. There are cases of people where even though they have declared their second application, USCIS assigned them a second A# number.

I think there is no reason to lose sleep over this issue (actually I was told so by a renowned lawyer with whom I just did a consultation), and there is not much we can do anyway. Except... if possible we should send a letter to USCIS telling them about these two sets of applications and then asking them to choose the one which is approvable (again, I was told so by the same lawyer).
BTW canadian_dream: heartiest conrgatulations on your green card approval, your posts on the multiple filings issue have been very helpful.

I sent a hand written letter to the President and CC'd it to CA IV PO BOX. and I feel a lot better after writing it.
I have also sent a personalized hand written letter to the local Congressman. I will set up a meeting once I get a positive response or in the next few weeks, whichever is earlier.

As per my knowledge, one can't file I485 application until and unless priority date is current. How come this report is showing 485 application count of EB2 after Aug 2007 priority dates.

Nothing will happen. The dates will be retrogresses on Monday. May be we will see 'U' in Visa Bulletin. The AILA will try to pursue DOS and USICS but they will politely say "sorry for the trouble" This will lead to the law suit. Some people will submit their resignation. In the next year you will see those at some higher post somewhere.

Why do you even bother reading updates about ongoing GC issues?
You very well know that GC comes when the time is ripe, so you should really enjoy your sweet time instead of lurking on these forums.

A new technique reqruiters are using is
"Hey, I am OK with EAD, it is just this particular client of mine who is not and I tried to educate this client but they do not listen. I tried placing another guy on EAD at this client but they rejected because of EAD and I placed so many people on EAD in other clients. So I hear you. Good luck with other jobs."
I still think it is some notorous reqruiters who apply the EAD filter. They do not want to deal with a lot of resumes and they want to apply that filter.

Yes this has the potential to affect everyone - look at today's main news - 240k more jobs are lost and prediction that economy can get much more worse. The last thing we want in these times is another GC/visa related issue at back of our minds. This is the time to act before its too late.

Because even with this detailed information on the mechanics of immigration legislation, we cannot figure out who is friendly and who is not and who to lobby to and who to ignore.

here is my theory.
DOS and USCIS played a tactical move by making all the visa numbers current in anticipation of the CIR bill so that the legals wont complain to the senators about retrogression.
Once the CIR went down the drain, they are panicking about the outcome of their tactical error and trying to undo that move.
Again, just my theory...:confused:
