stop stop stop. it was not a mistake, it was not an accident.
they knew what they were doing. they worked weekends to achieve it damnit.
they are civil servants- u ever heard of civil servants working sundays to do 6 months of work in 15 days? that too by MISTAKE?????
smitha:
life is not all it seems. i came here in 1996. but my pd is 2007.
i have worked 4 years in an underserved area doing "national service"
i'm nowhere near a green card, forget that...you even grudge me an EAD.
i do not expect a gc tomorrow. i did not ask that july become current. but it did. and i lost a lot of money, time and effort to catch the window for an EAD. my family and employer scrambled with me. and got throughly screwed. not by senthil's "mistake", but coldly calculatedly so. in your wonderfully fair world, where does that rank?

I am posting this from Ron Gotcher's forum-
"Cite as "AILA InfoNet Doc. No. 11040563 (posted Apr. 5, 2011)"
Following-up ----------------------------------------are used. However, a rapid advance could spur a surge in demand that could impact the cut-off dates later in the year. The May Visa Bulletin, --------------of the year.
Is that mean they are going to move the PDs much further and again move back during the end of the year!!
So isn't this implying that the PDs will advance very very further than the available visa numbers!!!!!!!!!!

I tend to believe the CIR angle to this. Since, teh time CIR has failed, these Rumours have surfaced.....
Another poison choice!!!!
To make it look politically correct, I guess the new revised buletin won't be out till the end of 1st week july. They will make it look natural and stop taking new applications from 9th. :D

I had bought a house 2 years back thinking that i will sell it after couple of years and make money. I know many people might have done that. I didnt knwo that having a house will become a burden for me wrt moving to a different place in search of a job. I do see jobs in cities outside my state and was thinking of applying for those jobs. My problem is that if i sell my house, i will have to pay from my own pocket.
Having a house in this market has become a pain as it has made me immobile with respect to good job offers.
I was thinking that incase i find a job in a different state and cannot travel back home frequently and also renting is not a good option then should i leave the house to the bank for foreclosure?
Will this affect my GC process. I have no plans of buying a house in coming years.
What might be an outcome of foreclosure, keeping in mind that i am wiating for my GC process.
If anyone had an experiecne like this or may know someone, please share ur thought..

Travelling via London Gatwick and Dubai to India and back. No airport change required during transit. Using AP, visa expired. I have a valid Canada PR card.
According to UK embassy US GC and Canada PR card holders do not need transit for direct airside transit. Does anyone have any experience in this situation? Please post. Thanks

Sathesh,
According to the below websites, seems it is the Immigrant's Final application and processing fee(and seems like your immigrant visa has been approved by USCIS*** according to OVERVIEW OF IMMIGRANT CONSULAR PROCESSING (http://www.americanlaw.com/consul_iv.html)
"In April of 1994, DOS opened the NVC, a permanent immigrant visa processing facility in Portsmouth, NH. NVC processes all approved immigrant petitions that it receives from USCIS. NVC will retain the petitions until the cases are ready for adjudication by a consular officer abroad. When an applicant's case is about to become current, the petition is forwarded to the appropriate U.S. embassy or consulate overseas. " ***

I had a pre-scheduled appointment to meet my congressman's rep in his office today. I mentioned to him the issues and gave him the letter. He said addressing the president won't be of much use as it these fixed need to be taken up by lawmakers in the house. He said due to election year nothing will happen until 2009 as it requires legislative fixes and he expressed about the omnibus bill getting declined !

Look at this ignorant guys quote from the above website.
"I just read a couple days ago that over a million "immigrants"
applied for citizenship
Do we not have limits? and don't they have to be
green card holders to apply ?
Also do we not have demographic limits?
Most of the million all seem to be from one area of the
world"

This is my case:
I am not working with my GC (I140) sponsoring company. I applied 485 based on that 140 from my previous company.
Got 3yr H1extn (from Vermont, EAC, in Dec 2007)for current company based on that approved 140.
Got EAD , AP approved.
My previous H1 visa expired in 2004. ( 4yrs gap)
Is it better to go to consulate (Chennai) for stamping ? or use AP?
If I use AP, at POE ( Newark EWR)if I were asked why I am not with GC sponsoring employer what should I say ?
Is there any issue for going stmaping after a long gap ?
Please adivse.

ADMIN: This thread is for people who want to file I-485 filing on their own. Since 485 filing requires only one document from the employer (Employer's letter saying you have the job and its the same job description, see the sample format below in the second quote box), its possible to file 485 by oneself without additional help from lawyer or employer. This is a thread for that purpose. Even those who have the help and attention of a good lawyer can use this thread for guidance. This is the initial list of documents that are required for 485 filing and the optional EAD and AP filing. The fee structure is scheduled to change after July 30th. Campaigns are good. But to solve this problem we have to go back to the basics of human nature, specifically how or what motivates politicians -
1. Votes
2. Money, Fame, Power
3. Good publicity or fear of bad publicity
We can not give #1 or #2 to the politicians. So our only option is #3. This was the reason why the flower campaign had worked, they feared bad pubilicity.
Again, they will not move even a single inch unless there is some motivation and as I said above our only option is #3.
And for doing #3, the community must cooperate.
If you have noticed, IV has done various campaigns in the past, though results are not guaranteed, enough publicity and buzz has been created and now we have more people uniting.
It takes time for big things to happen.
Mountains can be moved only by motivation, in fact #1 and #2 can never move mountains.
in 1970s, America opened up green cards to doctors, engineers and chartered accountants from India. A lot of doctors migrated that time and after a while there was heavy resistance from local people but govt cannot stop people from coming, so they implemented harsh rules to appease locals. One such rule was, even if you are a professional - you cannot take a job offer without going through the employment exchange. And in the employment exchange the job they give does not necessarily be the job that you can do. This discouraged new people and many people went back though they had green cards because they did not want to ruin their careers. Everything was good till you land here and no one told u about this situation. People never realised it till it hit them hard and as usual our community is scared to rise and no unity and no one speaks the truth, everyone just painting a rosy picture that they are doing great.
So, I would only say "Don't look at the result", just keep doing the effort. Try to build trust among the community. In fact you will be surprised to see that it is easier talking to the govt to help you rather than talking to the many unmotivated people who want benefit but are not motivated to do something about it. Keep those people in mind and do somehing to change their minds and set an example.

Keep those people in mind and do somehing to change their minds and set an example.

"Alaway complain" is the best policy. I got In-state tution for my wife and fought with the university for 4 months. Their rule said - You have to be a resident alien to get in-state. They assumed (because it brought more money) that only Green Card holders are resident aliens. I proved to them with documentation that H-1B and H4 are "non-permanent resident alien" for immigration status and resident alien for IRS tax purposes.
After 4 months university called me saying your wife would get in-state. They never gave it in writing....they still charge out of state to H4 candidates. So that you know, it is 3 times higher than in-state.
Only problem is ---after 7-8 years in this country I am getting tired of fighting these useless battles. I want to put my energy somewhere else, something more creative.
Like someone else suggested, I would never tell that I have EAD. Just say, I am authorized to work for any employer.

Thanks for your response. I agree with your point that "what uscis wants" prevails. I was trying to see if its possible to make sure EAD & AP are based on 485 with an approved underlying 140. I am not trying to get "multiple EAD/AP". Only trying to renew at the expiration of current once and trying to see if that can be based on new 485. My A# is same for both 485's
My questions again:
1. When I renew EAD/AP should I check that its renewal or initial application option.
2. How can I make sure (atleast try) the new EAD/AP will not be tied to old 485 but the new one (will send the new 485 receipt & 140 approval notice).
