Just curious...when did you open the Service request? And after how many days you received the reply below on your case? Was it through email or postal mail?

    Thank you.

I opened a Service request for my case and got a reply last night, saying 'you cases is assigned an IO offices. Please allow us 60 days to make a decision ....'

I called the number on your I797 form and rep asked me, if I had any activity on my case in last 60 days. I said No so she opened a SR.

Saw this letter to editor in Khabar. Hope this helps

    Good Work, Houston Consulate!

Recently Ive read letters from Khabar readers complaining about the service and performance at the Indian Consulate in Houston, Texas. So, when I found out that the Consulate had cancelled (on a whim, it appeared!) publicly announced visa camps in the Atlanta area, I feared the worst. Canceling publicly announced visa camps and not even informing the Indian media in the area or the very organizations that help administer them seemed like the height of disregard by the Consulate for their clients.

The next day I learnt that the Consulate had outsourced the visa processing service to a professional company. Not knowing what to make of it, I was still nervous as I had less than a month to go (I was counting on the visa camp that got cancelled). Thankfully, my experience turned 180 degrees when I began my application process from the link provided on the Consulates website for their visa services contractor.

After filling out the form online, the system gave me an ID #. I sent my form and documents by overnight delivery and kept my UPS tracking number handy?just in case! To my surprise, the very next day I received an email acknowledging receipt of the application and an assurance that itd be processed right away. I was still not convinced that it could be going so smoothly, so the next day I went to the link they sent me to track the progress of my application, and sure enough there were fresh updates on it informing me the status of the application. Exactly a week from the day I mailed the application, I received another email saying my passport/visa had been dispatched back to me, along with the shipping companys tracking number.

I was thrilled with the speed and professionalism of the whole process and would like to compliment the Consulate in taking this most effective step of partnering with a quality visa service provider.
    Satisfied Applicant

    Hi All,

I have a question in the online passport registration form. When it comes to
    sections
"Address to be printed in passport" and "Other Address",
I am filling my residential address under the section "Address to be printed in passport" but for "Other Address" what should I fill in?
Am I doing it right? Please respond.
    Thanks a lot,

...who said that they are from non-IT field , it suggests that more than 90% affected are from IT and EB2 ? I want to see hard numbers....

I am not sure what you are going to achieve with the field type. You have to consider some inherent facts about the Employment Based immigration...

    1) Most (not all) applications are from India
    2) Most (not all) applicants from India are in IT field
    3) Most applicants, in general, are filing EB2.

If you consider all these facts, it becomes apparent that IT/EB2/India is not something they are purposely focusing on, it just happens to be that way. If you want more information on this data, I suggest you check out '' that shows Country and EB type by each user and whether they got audited or not.

I dont think we necessarily need people to describe their field for the initiative we plan to take against late audit responses.

May be we can also try to reduce the retirement benefit age from 65 (or may be 67, or 70 I really don't know, whatever it is) 60. That will be tremendous help for early retirement. What do you say Mr/Mrs. Saralayar?

Why are you people so full of anger? I mean, it's one thing to be angry about something and another to direct your anger at someone else who doesn't deserve it. Saralayar brought up an issue he / she deems important. You might not agree but what's with all this ugly bile?

    -Visa Recapture
    -File I-485 irrespective of PD
    -Stop counting dependents against quota
-USCIS backlog should be transparent so one can predict his turn.
-Remove Country cap. Its unfair for people born in india to wait decades while other nationals get their visa almost immediately.

Family reunion should be very important. I am separated from my wife for 3 years now because of Jul'2007 fiasco. Sent many letters to Senators, President, vice president but nobody is bothered to look at my case

I filed on March 26th in TSC (paper filing). Got receipt dated April 7th. Still waiting. I cannot continue the job as my H1B expired. Anybody knows what should I do to get it expedited. I guess people at USCIS are very unpredictable and work according to the mood. I did not anticipate this as earlier I filed EAD for my wife and son and I got it in three weeks.

There is a fax number you can send a letter to expedite your EAD case. You need to mention that you are not able to work and will face extreme financial hardship if you do not recieve your EAD in time. we had sent a fax for our renewal last time and it worked.

I'm in the similar situation as indian111.

I filed for my wife's EAD in the late May (e-file TSC).
    Receipt date is May 29th.
    Soft LUD on June 6th
    FP done on June 21st

no updates, no changes after that. there is no LUD after FP. It's been 66 days since filed. Does any one know if I can take Infopass appointement before I complete 90 days of pending status and see what's going on? Or do I have to wait until 90 days are complete? any experiences?

    pappusheth

EFiled on 29th May and still waiting. Opened a SR yesterday and lets see what happens.

The good thing is now we are seeing some approvals, so i think everything is back moving again.

    GO IV GO.

my wife filed on may 29th, soft lud on june 6th and fp done on june 21st. no updates/luds after the one on june 6th.
my wife called them last friday and opened a SR.. we'll see if that helps.. i think we will go ahead and schedule infopass as well..
    dunno what's going on..

I got the CPO email just now.. i'm not sure if it's because of the SR that my wife opened on Friday evening or it just happened without that.. but anyways it's a relief now.. i also see a lot of people getting cpo emails today.. btw, just curious, does the cpo stage come before "approved" status or after it?

now hope that i receive the card in time.. will post about its validity and start date once i receive it. (i'll be current for the month of September as my pd is july 06)

good luck to others who are waiting and hope that they get cpos soon

I would say 90 % in the same boat :p No sweat. They will do an immunization test. You could even get the vaccinations taken
I am sure some of us do not have vaccination records, but have gone thru vaccinations back in India....The record keeping is a recent phenomenon...any body in the same boat and have gone thru same phase

I agree with this 100%, BUT we (US degree holdeers) have to understand that in the GC aspirant community there are tons of people who came in through "desi consultnats" (even this word makes my blood boil), who will never agree with this or support this. Classic Indian mentality, one crab pulling the other back in the basket.

Jeff Flake introduce bill to exempt PHD holder from USA from visa limit. We should push for MS people so it will make queue lesser. Also we should start campaign for Visa recapture.

Those whose PDs are getting close to the spillover time have time to waste on the forum on useless discussions. Others are busy in advocacy day and contributing. I would not be surprised that these antiIV folks will turn anti-immigrants once they get their greencards. They will not want more people to get greencards after them and compete with them and their children in job market.

Very well said...these people are anti-immigrants in the making.
